The Ahmadiyya community continues to endure violence and discrimination at the hands of extremists. On Thursday, Tayyab Ahmad, a 40-year-old member of the Ahmadi community, was brutally murdered in broad daylight in Rawalpindi. According to reports, the assailant used an axe to carry out the fatal attack, targeting Tayyab solely for his faith.
As detailed in a press release from the Ahmadiyya press office, Tayyab was visiting his brother in Rawalpindi and was at his brother’s business premises when the assault occurred. Witnesses reported that the attacker shouted, “I have warned you Qadianis to leave this place,” during the incident.
This tragedy follows a series of threats and attacks aimed at Tayyab’s family. Just days prior, miscreants had vandalized his brother’s shop by pelting it with stones and issuing constant warnings. Due to escalating threats, Tayyab’s brother had recently relocated his family out of Rawalpindi for their safety.
In their statement, the Ahmadiyya community condemned the growing violence and urged the government to act decisively. “The Ahmadiyya community continues to suffer at the hands of extremists, with no accountability for the culprits. These incidents tarnish the name of our beloved Pakistan. The government must take immediate action to end the hate speech and violence against the community,” the statement read.
This tragic incident highlights the urgent need for authorities to address the ongoing persecution and ensure the safety and dignity of all citizens, regardless of their faith.
