A Christian family in Chak 437 G/B, Tehsil Samundri, is reeling after their home was reportedly set on fire following a local dispute, leaving them displaced and fearful for what comes next.
According to community representatives and local sources, the incident took place on April 12 after an argument between children of the affected family and their Muslim neighbors escalated into violence. Two of the family’s sons were injured in the clash, including one who already lives with a disability in his arm.
The family’s head, Hanoch Masih, a visually impaired resident, said the confrontation began in the evening and quickly grew worse. He alleged that after the initial dispute, the neighbors later returned in retaliation and set the house ablaze before fleeing. The fire left the family’s home badly damaged and the family without shelter.
Police and senior officers reportedly arrived at the scene soon after and brought the situation under control. However, no arrests have been made so far, according to initial reports. Authorities have not yet issued an official statement about the alleged attackers or any possible charges.
The incident has deepened concern among residents and rights advocates, who say it reflects the vulnerability of minority communities in rural areas. For the family, the loss is immediate and devastating: a home reduced to ruins, children injured, and an uncertain future hanging in the balance.
